New police sergeant in Knowle, Dorridge and Hockley Heath
Knowle, Dorridge and Hockley Heath has a new Neighbourhood Police Sergeant – Jerome Moran.
Jerome joins from Coventry Police where he’s spent the last four years tackling crime in a challenging residential area of the city.
He was successful in reducing crime by more than half on the large Foleshill estate, an area that had suffered years of deprivation.
And although his new ‘patch’ has a different social and economic make-up he believes the principles behind successful local policing remain the same.
“I’m keen to hear the views of local residents; I want them to set my policing agenda,” he said. “No matter which communities you serve as a neighbourhood officer the key is understanding the public’s concerns, acting on them, and keeping them informed.
“My team of PCs and PCSOs will be out and about in the neighbourhood to find out your concerns and discuss the best possible ways to address them.
“I’ve already met a large number of residents and I am encouraged to see how much they care about the community and their willingness to assist the police.”
Prior to joining the police Jerome held a nine-year career in the banking and stock broking industry – but he felt it was time to pursue a more rewarding role and hasn’t looked back since.
He added: “I am extremely pleased to have been given responsibility for this area of Solihull. It is one of the safest places to live and work in the UK and I intend to make it even more so.”
Sgt Moran and his team of five police constables and two police community support officers can be contacted on 0345 113 5000 (ext 7928 6666) or via email at knowledorridge@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk.
Sgt Moran takes over from Ann Strachan who moves to the Blythe neighbourhood.
