Hockley Heath Fireworks Cancelled

WE ARE VERY SORRY BUT BONFIRE NIGHT THIS YEAR IS CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF HELP NEEDED BEFORE THE ACTUAL EVENT

Despite various attempts to persuade residents of Hockley Heath to contact us to form an organising committee to arrange the bonfire only 1 person came forward to help.
As we need to start arrangements as early as August we are unable to proceed this year.
Also due to increased Health and Safety issues needed for public liability insurance cover .The costs involved in up front payments we needed more funds
We have few members on the Residents Association who are already involved with The Village Plan and the unwanted development at Aylesbury House

HELPERS AND MEMBERS NEEDED NOW

It is the Parish Councils hope that this way, people who are unable to attend the monthly evening Council meetings can still get their voices heard.

MONTHLY MEETINGS ARE INFORMAL

We discuss local issues or arrange fund raising events. Unfortunately we have not had enough helpers to arrange the bonfire or other social events at the park or in the Pavilion and people with ideas are needed to help with next years events.

Also helpers to deliver occasional leaflets to advertise events or notifying the community of local issues such as:

  • The Drug Rehabilitation centre
  • Gypsy Sites
  • Any proposed large building projects that may occur

It only takes a couple of hours of your time for the meetings once a month

We have already had recent success with saving the Nags Head site from developers soon to reopen. We are working on a new web site for HHRA so that you can keep up to date.

All we need is your email address or telephone number

The new restaurant on Stratford Road officially opens its doors on Friday 2nd December - but the manager is giving a select few the chance to be the first to experience the steakhouse.
Manager Diane McInerney, said: “We can’t wait to open the doors of our new Miller & Carter, so we’ve decided to let people have a sneak preview by hosting a party on Thursday 1st December, which people can register for by visiting www.millerandcarter.co.uk/hockleyevents .
“We’re very proud of our offer and we want to showcase our new restaurant as soon as possible and let people from the local area experience what Miller & Carter is all about before anyone else.
“Our new steakhouse has a stylish yet informal setting, perfect for experiencing the expertise of the restaurant’s talented chefs, whether it's for a quick lunch, celebrating a special occasion, or treating friends and family.
“Our steaks are directly sourced from a select number of hand-picked West Country farms and prepared to exacting standards by master butchers. Few dishes demand such excellent raw material as steak, which is why we place such importance in knowing our farmers and butchers.”
At the event there will be champagne and tasters from the menu, as well as the chance to enjoy complimentary drinks. Guests will also be able to explore and experience the new steakhouse for the first time.
