LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

  • Strong opposition from Residents. Over 200 opposition letters from residents sent to Warwick Planning and supported by 2 local MPs, Hockley Heath & Lapworth Parish Councils, Stratford on Avon District Council, local Ward Councillors and Hockley Heath Residents Association.
  • Marina Plans viewed as ‘inappropriate development’ by Area Planning Officer. Developer required to submit its reasoning why there are Very Special Circumstances justifying why the development should proceed.
  • In response, the Developer submitted a “Statement of Material Considerations”, supported by British Waterways’ document “Summary of Moorings in Solihull”.
  • The Opposition Group Committee submitted 3 detailed documents, in response to the Statement of Material Considerations.
  • Area Planning Officer advised the Developer that their latest evidence of “need” for a Marina, was insufficient & invited them to present further evidence of need.

FINAL PLANNING STAGE!

WHAT NEXT?

When the Applicant has submitted final arguments & evidence of need, the next stage will be: Referral of the Marina Plans to the Planning Committee. The next possible date for this to happen is Wednesday, 28 April. The Area Planning Officer will confirm, on or about 14 April, whether the plans will go to the Committee on April 28, or whether it will be postponed to a later date.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • Write/email to Warwick Planning
    • to agree that the Marina Plans are “inappropriate development”, or
    • to give your views of the Statement of Material Considerations
  • Please Attend the Planning Committee Hearing
    • We’re hoping for a good turnout from residents, to show the strength of local feeling (We will let you know the final Date in advance but the venue will be Leamington Town Hall, start time 1800 hours.)

WDC Planning “do not consider the (marina) proposal to be ‘appropriate development’ in the green belt”, & asked the developer for a statement of Very Special Circumstances, to justify the development at the Sands Farm location.

Example of a website discussing the sort of issues that crop up for users of marinas

Below is a link that I have been sent as a “this is what we can look forward to”. Not really sure what to do with it, but wonder if our village is really ready for this? I think I might post it on my facebook page and see what comes back. But if you have any suggestions I would welcome them. Shortly I will have an update for the website. Which is more about trying to get people to attend the committee hearing, when we eventually get a date. We know it will not happen in May but could be June. Link to site
